OPER A ‘HOU.SE TALKIES “NAVY BLUE,S’ ’ BEING SHOWN Life on the rolling wave has its trials and tribulations, most : of them comic, for '.William Haines, in liis first all-talk-ing vehicle of the screen, “Navy Blues,’’ which opens at the Opera House to-night, The new Met ro-Gokl-wyn-Mayer production, is a comedy romance, in which Haines tinges Ins whimsical comedy with some serious acting that discloses, under the veneer of laughs, one of the must, deft delineators of emotions on the screen. There are laughs galore, but Haines, gives infinitely more than this in the new picture. .Much.of the picture- was filmed aboard 1 a battleship, and Haines, as a. festive, gob, gets comedy out of the laundry cjn deck, the hunks', and the rest of the appurtenances of a destroyer. The dialogue is crisp and swiftly amusing. Anita. Page makes a very charming heroine as the sailor’s sweetheart. -ashore and their misunderstanding. quarrel and ultimate reconciliation follow a sensational fighting rescue in which Ilaines and the massive, Karl Dane battle a roomful of thugs. The box plans are at Miss Blake’s for the evening sessions.
