CHAMPIONSHIPS AT MIDHIRST. SHEWEY WINS TITLES. From a field of 10 the noted axeman, J. E. Shewry, ex-world’s champion axeman, won the 12-inch chop at the Midhirst meeting yesterday, when, in addition to the New Zealand championships, the 12-inch Taranaki championship was also decided. His winning of both events in an easy manner showed that, despite his age, Shewry is still at the top of his form.
