MARKED EXPORT SHRINKAGE AN EXCESS OF IMPORTS RETURNS FOR. FINANCIAL YEAR (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 16. Conversion of an excess of exports of £12,048,478 into an excess of imports of £122,037 is the feature of the Dominion ’s overseas trade returns for the financial year ended on March 31 "which were made available by the (Minister of .Customs (the 'Hon. J. B. Donald) tonight. The Minister stated the total values of the exports from and imports into Neiv Zealand for the period "were: — Exports £49,045,817, imports £49,107,914. Exports had decreased by £8,103,520 as compared with the previous financial year and imports had increased by £4,062,049. The principal cause of the decline in the exports had been the lower prices obtained for wool this season and the decreased quantity exported.
