A deputation of the Council b Christian Congregations to-day protested to tho Education Board against a drcular recently issued by the -board pescribmg the conditions under which Bible reading in schools under the Jelson system' should -be carried out. The spokesman asked that the ward help the Ministers to carry on inder existing conditions -until they hal an opportunity of carrying the matt* to the highest court of appeal. Ther intended to request the Education linister to secure an interpretation of the Act from the Solicitor-General.

The board decided, subject to leal confirmation, that if parents do :ot want children to attend Bible classs, they must send a note to teachers ,othat effect.
