Three Taranaki members of the Maori race who have, in their widely different spheres of activity, rendered invaluable services to their people and to New Zealand generally, are pictured above. Sir Maui Pomare. whose career is briefly sketched elsewhere on this page, lias lived to see many of his dreams come true, thanks 1o his line talent and indomitable energy. Hone Pihama served the cause of Maori and pakeha well in the difficult early days of colonisation. brethren. He has left behind an honoured name on this coast. The Rev. Robert Had don, of Normanby, is a Maori who typifies the best characteristics of his race.
