HAWERA SCHOOL COMMITTEE

MONTHLY MEETING.

The Hawera School Committee held its first meeting of the new year last evening, Dr. W. M. Thomson presiding. Also present were: Messrs M. R. Jones, E. Kirkby, J. D. Tait and P. 0. Veale (secretary). The headmaster (Mr J. W. Thomas) reported that the work of the school was proceeding smoothly and great interest was being taken in about 250 going regularly to practice. Mr Fox had again taken charge of the school orchestra and was endeavouring to raise funds for a school brass band. A tender from W. Adams for concreting work at the infant school was accepted. It was decided to hold the school’s annual picnic at New Plymouth before the end of the month, and the committee has put the preliminary arrangements in hand.
