At the Napier Amateur Athletic Club's meeting to-night Mias McLean, Hastings, equalled the New Zealand ladies’ 100 yards record of 11 3-ssec., beating Mias V. The British Empire Games Committee at Hamilton (Ontario) has inlorined the governing bodies of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa that a contribution of £IOOO is to be made by each country towards the expenses of sending athletes to the game at Hamilton. The dicision is in view of the difference of the expenses of those countries and Britain.
It is hpoed Australia will reconsider the decision not to send a team. All countries are well represented.
CLUB SPORTS EVENING. . The form shown at the usual evening meeting under the auspices of the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club last night was uniformly good and resulted in an undoubtedly successful gathering. Hie finishes, generally, were close and exciting,' with special interest in - the sprint race and the cycling events.
