So serious has the financial position of the State Government become that Mr. Stevens (the Treasurer) has been requested by Cabinet to - recommend emergency measures, of relief. Advice has . been received from London that until the coal dispute is settled the underwriters would not entertain projects for raising loans for Australia, The N.S.W- Premier, Mr. Bavin, last night made an eloquent appeal to the Miners Federation to realise the economic ffiebs and join the Government in an effoi’t to bury the past and place the industry ori a somider fddting. „ , ~ The “Workers’ Deferice Army,” about 250 strong paraded at the Trades Hall last night.
