The Nsw Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received the following market report from its London office, dated January 17:

The butter* market 'is steady at slightly higher prices than those ruling earlier in the week. The retail price of New Zealand butter lias been reduced to Is 7d per lb, and that of Danish to Is Bd. The market for New Zealand clieese is steady, with retail prices at lid to Is per lb. Wholesale quotations, with those for the previous' week in parentheses, are as follow: BUTTER. New Zealand.—Salted, 1525,' 156 s (1545, 158 s; Jan. 18, 1929, 184 s, 186 s); unsalted, 168 s, 176 s (1745, 1765; Jan. 18, 1929, .190 s, 1965, 155 s equals approximately Is 3d f.0.b.; first whey, 148 s (148 s); second whey, 146 s (1445). Canadian. —White and coloured, 965, 98s ; market quiet. English.—Finest farmers. 110 s, 116 s ; extra quality, 120 s. The Rangitiki ustarted discharging her butter and cheese on January 10. The Port Hunter completed the unloading of her cheese on January 13. Deliveries of New Zealand butter during the week were 1633 tons, the total quantity in store being 3870 tons, as against 3450 tons a year ago. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese for the week were 29,349 crates, the total in store being 45,679 crates, as against 52,00 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese for the week were 6400 boxes, the total in store being 160,500 boxes.

FROZEN AIEAT TRADE. Lamb.—Alarket very firm owing to small arrivals, but trade rather Slow. Aluitton market: Demand is good for both wethers and ewes; stocks short; market firm. Beef market; Firm, with good demand. New Zealand porker jigs: Ready sales all arrivals at present prices. New Zealand baconer pigs: Good inquiry for small quantities available.
