Ci RATIFYING FINANCI AT, RECOVERY. REVIEW OF THE YEAR. The annual meeting 0 T the Alanaia Hibernian Sports’ Club, presided over ■by Mr. J. A. Hansen, was held on Saturday evening. The report on last year’s operations stated that, starting with a small credit balance in consequence of having to meet liabilities incurred during the previous year the club had nevertheless scored a success financially and, with the exception of two accounts, everything had been paid to date. Owing to unfavourable weather, the football tournament showed only a small margin of profit. The balance sheet now is bowed a credit of £'s2 2s lOd. For the sports meeting the tracks were in excellent order, and the discernment of the liandicapper.s, Messrs. J. A. Hansen and <J. A. 1 Burke, was reflected in the resultant keen competition and close finishes. Receipts for the year amounted to £2oI 10s 7d and expendiurte to £202 4s 9d, leaving a credit balance of £52 os lOd. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Messrs. W. H. Davy, W. F. Swift and B. Ryan were elected new members. :

It was resolved to hold the sports on a Saturday towards the end of Ala.rcn, the actual date being left to the executive.
The arrangements for catering were left in the hands of Alessrs. C. A. Burke and L. Hughes. Alessrs. O. A. Burke and G. H. Edwards were deputed to interview trie Town Board regarding the peicentage of gate money. “About 20 dates for -sports meetings have been booked by various Taranaki sports clubs. This angered well for the success of the coming season,” said Air HansenAir. Hansen announces that there is a prospect of Phil O’Shea, the champion cycle rider, visiting Taranaki and competing at the Afanaia Hibernian sports meeting. Tlie secretary was voted an honorat ium of £lO 10s. Several speakers paid tribute to the good work he had done. The sum of £3 3s. was voted to the Alanaia Band and £1 Is. to the Manaia Fire Brigade for services rendered.
A vote of thanks was accorded the president for his enthusiastic efforts in connection with the sports. The ground committee will make an inspection of the grounds in a few days.
