NEW ZEALAND’S MESSAGE SPEECH BY PRIME .MINISTER (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Jau. 19. A very interesting incident took place at Heretaunga this morning when the first movietone record to be taken in New Zealand w&s secured, the occasion being the recording of a message to the world by the Prime Minister the Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward. Sir Joseph, who was in excellent spirits, delivered a warm message -of welcome, during which he briefly outlined the position of the Dominion to-day, laying stress upon th e fact that its cities and ports .possessed facilities which brought them into line with the leading centres of the world, and that in many other respects also New Zealand was thoroughly up-to-date. Sir Joseph also dealt with the wonderful tourist attractions which this country had to offer, attractions surpassing those famed in many other parts of the world, and lie issued a cordial invitation to people of .all .countries to- come and see these and to enjoy the hospitality which awaits them in the Dominion.

The proceedings went through without a hitch of any sort, Sir Joseph speaking in a firm, quiet tone, admirably suited to th e purposes of recording.
