Announcement that arrangements were completed for holding a healthcamp on Awapuni racecourse, Palmerston Nor till, was made at a meeting of the Wanganui Education Board on Wednesday. The camp, it was stated, would he he’id some time in February. The London head of a very large oommerical corporation, in visiting the Dominion branches, failed to notify the local stall prior to his arrival, says an exchange. Except the local manager, no one had ever seen him. When, therefore, he entered the new offices he walked up to the “Inquiries” counter and said. “Please tell the manager I would like to see him.” “You can’t see him,” said the clerk. “He’s engaged.” “Oh, hut if you tell him who I am I'm sure lie will see me.” persisted the stranger, taking off a rather shabby overcoat and looking as if lie was going to stay. “Well,” said the clerk, “I’ll tell him. Who shall I say you are?” “You might tell him I’m the managing director.” The clerk turned to- r. mate and whispered audibly behind his hand. “Another case of shellshock!” Just then the manager emerged from his den. and. seeing the illustrious Londoner, flowed towards him with winning smiles and extended hand. Two startled clerks who had hitherto believed their manager the supreme dictator of the business bolted for cover.
