Despite the evidence of two doctors who examined him after arrest, Fred Aldinger, aged 31, chief engineer of the Texas Oil Company, was to-day convicted of being drunk while m charge of a car. , The magistrate (Mr McNeil) made it clear that his decision was based upon his opinion that defendant was under tlie influence of drink at . the time of his arrest. It was admitted in evidence that defendant had had -some drinks; he was found asleep at the wheel of a stationary car. In view of the fact that he was not driving, the magistrate did not touch defenefant’s license. He imposed a fine of £2O. It was stated that, in all probability, defendant would appeal.
