CHARITABLE AID CALLS
ADVANCES AT WANGANUI. NEED FOR RESTRICTION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, Jan. 15. The Wanganui Hospital Board has spent £4736 on charitable aid l for the year up to December 31, and at a meeting to-day the chairman, Dr. S. Skeaman, expressed. the need for caution to keep within the limit of £6OOO bv March 31. He did not know how the reduction could be effected. Mr W. E. Broderick said the county councils had had their highways grants cut down and had retrenched. It was stated that the Public Works Department had no work to offer.
