PATEA.
AMATEUR ATHLETICS. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Patea. Amateur Athletic Club was held 'on Friday, Mr Jos. Paterson presiding. Messrs Gardiner, Pauling, Lamb, Petersen, Adams, Fraser, Rook, Paterson, Currie and Hemingway weer also present.
It was unanimously decided that the Pateai and District Scottish Society he written to and heartily thanked for assistance in connection with the recent sports, and that the hearty thanks of the club be tendered to the Hawera Pipe Band and the Patea Municipal Band for playing ait the sports.
The treasurer reported a credit balance of £67 9s 9d and accounts payable £62 12s Sd. It was also decided' to thank Mrs Gardiner for .providing the -two hands and officials with afternoon itca free of charge. A very warm tribute to the work of the secretaries, Messrs Paterson and Petersen, was paid by Mr Gardiner, who stated that if the younger members worked as hard in the future as in the past year the local sports meeting 'Would be the best on the coast.
