FIRE AT ELTHAM

BRIGADE’S SMART SAVE

At approximately 1.15 this morning the E'itham Fire Brigade received a call to the. top end of Oollingwood Street, where an outbreak of fire had been discovered' in a private dwelling occupied by Mir Leslie Pennington (reports the “Star’s” correspondent). Great- volumes of smoke were pouring out of the house when the brigade arrived. but the flames had not got through the outside wall and within a few minutes the smart work of the brigade brought the fire under control. The house was considerably damaged inside and also outside, by the effects of the smoke. The insurances are not known at present.
