(By Telegraph—Press Association.) TE KUITI, Jan. 13
The Minister of Native. Affairs, Sir Apirana A gala,, lias just concluded a tour of inspection of a number of areas in the King Country at the instigation of the member for Waitomo, Mr. W. J. Broadfoot. The tour lias been carried out with the object of viewing areas suitable for developmental purposes and also to go into the question of native leases-
The Minister, after .seeing a number of areas hereabouts, expressed himself as being impressed with the possibilities. Ngutunui and Wliarepulianga were visited, and after an inspection of the latter tbe Minister stated that these should be included' in any land development proposals which the Government intended bringing down. Rangitoto, a large area lying east of Te Kuiti, was visited, and the opinion was strongly advanced by the Minister that an area hero should be devoted to ! development. The Minister, whilst realising the complication of mixed motive and European settlement in the last-mentioned area, is confident that a developmental scheme could include means of eliminating the complications due to these mixed leases. The matter of development of the Mahoenui blook was discussed, the Minister expressing himself as being favourably impressed with the quality, configuration and general possibilities, and giving an assurance that he was going earnestly into questions affect-, ing the proposals.
