PATEA HOSPITAL
BOARD’S MONTHLY MEETING-. WORK OF THE INSTITUTION, There were present yesterday at tlie ordinary meeting of 'the Fat e a Hospital Board .Messrs U. ft. Honeyfield (cmairman), G. Jalmston, W. H. Watkins, W. Back. R. G. Scoavn. R, Watt and J. Luxton. The report of the hospital doctor (Dr. W. T. Simmons) stated that during December there were 10 male and nine fema&e patients in hospital. Patients admitted totalled 15 males and 17 females, discharged 10 and 12, died I and 1, remaining 14 and 13. The Director-General of Health (Dr. T. H. A. Valintine) suggested that a sin a! 1 1 committee be set up by North Island members of the Hospital Boards’ Association of New Zealand! to visit the Pukeora and Otaki sanatoria so that the members could report to the various boards on the management of these institutions!. The department- would welcome any suggestions for improvement in control and would do all it could to facilitate members of hospital beards attending the sanatoria. The department hoped for closer, co-operation between it and the hospital boards. , Dr. Vaintine Iliad visited Patea a few days previousy. He had -expressed himself satisfied with everything as far as the Patea. Hospital! was Concerned. A good report was given by the crairman on behalf of the visiting committeo. New shelves were needed to provide for china expected shortly. The provision of' shelves and other small matters were left in the chairamn’a hands. Messrs Lupton and Scown were appointed the visiting committee for the next month.
