FIRES DESTROY HOMESTEADS

WTHAKATANE DISTRICT OUTBREAKS. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WHAKATANE, Jan. 8. Eire detroyedi a six-roomed house and contents on Mr. A. T. Burr’s farm at White Pine Bush yesterday, despite all efforts to save the building. The cause of the fire is unknown. Haymaking was proceeding on the farm . at the time. The building and furniture were insured in the New Zealand office. On the previous day fire destroyed a forxr-roomed cottage on Mr. A. McGo-u----gan’s farm at Opouriao. The hquse was insured for £4SO, but the furniture was not insured.
