PEARLY KING PASSES

Pearly kings throughout England arc mourning the death of the premier pearly king of the world, Harry C'roit, of Euston, who held the title for halt a century. He was presented to King Edward and Queen Alexandra when he was- the only pearly king in England. Now there are 200Croft just before his death completed a coat of 3000 pearl buttons. He had 32,000 buttons on an evening dress suit which took two years to sew, 2000 buttons being on the top hat and 500 each on the stick, spats and gloves. The buttons are insured lor £4OO. The funeral, which was held at Finchley, was attended by every coster monarch of London. They all wear pearly dress Their wives attended, wearing large hats with great coloured feathers. There were also the little princes and princesses. The king’s pearlstudded top hat rested on the eoitin. A long procession moved through London to Finchley, followed by costers afoot, others in donkey carts. A pearly waistcoat was buried with the king. Though lie was a king in the coster sphere he carried out the lowly duties of street-sweeping for 40 years.
