A 30 days’ trial has begun of the uncrowned King of Georgia, Professor Shiavla Karunidze, and; also of six Germans on charges of conspiring tp forgo masses -of Russian notes, in the hopes of causing an economic crash in Russia, and overthrowing the Soviet. It. is suggested that the real prize was the control of the Georgian oil .veils. In -this connection it is implied that great oil magnates, including one Briton, were, behind the plot. Karunidze protests that his only motive was to -free Georgia, from Rasputin’s isway. Baron von Stein heir, residing at Paris, is allegedly involved, but an extradition has been refused.
