HAWERA MUNICIPAL BAND
CONDUCTOR’S RETDRN
THANKS TO MEMBERS
Th© monthly meeting of the Hawera Municipal Band committee was held' on Monday night. There were present:] Messrs II Dixon (chairman), T. Kilpatrick, It. Swan, E. Gould, J_ Champion, G. Pearce, E. Evans.
The report of the conductor (Mr H. C. A. Fox) stated: “This being my first appearance at a meeting since m.v return from Ebgland, I wish to thank Mr Gould for keeping, the band together so well; also the members for doing their part. After an absence of seven months, during which time I had the opportunity of making comparisons with bands of other countries, I have come back with a desire to see our hand on a much higher level musically. I do not see any reason why the Hawera. band should not he as good as any in the Dominion and with the eo-opera-tion of bandsmen and citizens I feel that my task will be much lighter than when X first came to Hawera.” It is the intention of the band to give a. .series of public performances al> often as the weather permits.
