ENTHUSIASTIC PREPARATIONS. DUKE OF YORK’S RECEPTION. !Unite! i-ress Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) ROME, Jan. 6. Excitement increases as the Royal wedding day approaches. All the great nations of the world will be represented at the ceremony. The Duke of York was everywhere acclaimed as he rode in state to the palace to greet the sovereigns on 'behalf of King George and Queen Mary. Thereafter he attended a brilliant reception at the Quirinal, where there was an assemblage of Royalties, and received homage from Signor Mussolini, members of the Cabinet, ambassadors, senators and deputies. The Duke of York had a long chat with Signor Mussolini.
The routes of all processions were densely lined with cheering people. The whole city is illuminated at night. The most piquant topic is the presence of King Boris of Bulgaria, arousing speculations as to his prospective engagement, which hitherto has been always denied, to Princess Giovanna.
PAPAL AUDIENCE. Received 11 a.m. to-day. ROME, Jan. 7. The Pope granted an audience ftO' the I Belgian Royalties at the Vatican. There was an elaborate ceremonial, Swiss guards, high prelates and other officials saluting as the party proceeded to the Throne Room, at the entrance of which the Pope miet the King amd ,Queen, who knelt and kissed the papal ring. They sat on either side and conversed for half' am hour, after which Princesses Marie Jose and Astrid, Duke Brabant and Count Flanders were introduced to the Pope, who conversed cordially with, them and presented gifts.
