The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Ltd., ilia's received the following advice from it® London house, dated January 1: Butter. —New Zealand choicest salted, 161 s to 162 s per cwt. Gheese.—White, 87s to 88s per cwt; coloured. 85s .per cwt. Markets quiet. Messrs Newton King, Ltd., report:— Butter.—The intervention of the holidays has not arrested the downward tendency of the market. The market during the last few days has registered a further depreciation and closes slow with prices irregular. Advances are reduced from January 3 to is 2d. Sailted, 156 sto 160 s; unsalted, 178 s to 182 s; wheys, firsts 150 s, seconds 1465. Cheese. —At- present there is a lack of interest in cheese, but with the holidays passed there should l>e la revival. The market closics quiet. Advances are reduced from January 3 to 7cl. Coloured, 85s to 86s; white, 87s to 88s.
