Won by a short l head). HAW BRA TRACK NOTES. (By “Limited.”) The course was in beautiful order this morning after the rain, the course proper being in ideal condition for fast work. The pegs, as usual, were well out. The strong wind blowing slowed the horses up over the last two furlongs. J. Brown was first out, sending Silvermine and Llanore a good working gallop over five furlongs. Both horses are in excellent condition and worked pleasingly. All gallops timed were performed on the outside of the course proper. Partaga and Latakia, starting from the six furlongs barrier posts, kept together throughout, gunning their first three' furlongs in 39sec- and finishing up their six in 1.22 A. Latakia was going best at the finish, although neither was ridden out.

Orazone was given easy pace work on the inside plough. Paitonu, by himself, worked strongly over a round, running his last half-mile comfortably in 56 4-sset*. Paitonu appreciated the sting being out of the track and strode out with freedom. Grand Marnia ran his half-mile in 55sec without a mate.

Bon Eve, Joyspear and Silent were relegated to pace Work on the plough. Calamine, Vivo, and Mount Shannon jumped off from almost a stand and ran a good six furlongs. Calamine made the pace after a. furlong had. been covered and ran home a length in front of Vivo, who was four lengths in front of Mount Shannon, in 1.21. The first three furlongs were run down in 39sec.

Brown Prince is not showing much speed as yet, and took 43sec. to run his three furlongs. The two-year-olds Green Linnet, Juist So, and Animated provided an interesting gallop over four furlongs, where Just So and Green Linnet drew away from Animated to finish together in 53sec.

Bright Glow, looking in fine order, went attractively in her pace, work,

running the last five furlongs of her wo ill easily in 1.11. i O. Cox’s pair of fillies, Valpre and I Clever, accomplished their sprint over | three furlongs in 38 l-ssec., with Clever j a shade in front at the finish.

Goalbag was given useful pace work over a couple of rounds on the plough. Anbridge galloped over three furlongs in 38}sec. ' * Mendip went wrong while doing three-quarter pace work, but the cause and extent of the damage lias not yet been, definitely ascertained. Word has been received that Glengariff has had to be destroyed at Riccarton on account of injuries sustained while working on the tracks there. Glengariff was seven years of age and was a useful performer on the flat before being put to the hurdling business. A capable jumper and with adequate pace, bis loss is a sevei’e one to his owner, Mr. G. Ryan, of Manaia.
