PEANUTS AND PIGEONS.
When we went up to town last year To spend a holiday, We had a flat in that wide street Where lots of pigeons play; And every day I used to look Across the street where sat A nice old peanut man who let The pigeons oh his hat. They pecked about his feet, quite sure lie would not do them harm. They settled on his hands and knees, And walked along his arm; Sometimes a noise would startle them, And then they all would fly With such a flash of shining wings Against the sunny sky. Oh, David liked the Harbour Bridge, And Peter liked the sea, And Betty loved the pretty shops — The ones where you have tea; And daddy liked the bowling greens. So smooth ancl clean and flat, But I liked best the peanut man With pigeons on his hat.
