THE SMILE CASTLE
THE CASTLE PLEDGE.
I promise to smile ©very time I can, and to chase all the frowns Into the dark cave, where the Smile Giant will kill them with hia Magic Sword Happiness.
My Dear Smiles, — Before we meet again next week the Summer Show will have come and gone. I know you are looking forward to next Thursday, and I expect to see many of you at the showgrounds. I would not miss an A. and P. fair for anything. ‘When I was very small I used to go principally to see my own pony in the ring, and I shall never forget how I thrilled with pride when I saw her stepping round gaily with the others. And then the anxiety of waiting to see if the judge gave her a red, blue or yellow ticket or none .at all! But the show is not only fox* those who have horses or' other stock entered for competition. It is a real day out for everybody, but especially for you children. The sideshows, the music of the merry-go-round, the hoop-la .stalls, the icecream, the merry throng of people—all these things make show day .a day to be anticipated and remembered when we are very young. I hope, with each one of you, that the day is really fine, so that we may have a “real” show day of .glorious sunshine, flags and tents and plenty of noise and merriment. Keep your eyes open Smiles and tell me all about it when you write. Yoxu* Affectionate, SMILE QUEEN.
