ELECTRIC LIGHT SPORTS
GALA at HAWERA
SHOW NIGHT ATTRACTION. Keen competition is expected on the Ha-wera showgrounds next Wednesday night (the first of the Egmont Show), when the Ha-wera Amateur Athletic Club is presenting its first electriclight programme of the season. Nominations have not as vet been announced, but- it is expected they will include many of the leading athletes of the Taranaki and Wanganui districts. Interest in the events among competitors will be stimulated by the decision of the committee to award the two Labour Day cups as points prizes in running and: cycling. Preparatory details of the organisation occupied the attention of the committee at a meeting last evening, when there were present Messrs L. H. Clapham (secretary), L. Hunt, T. A. Kinmont, S. A. Lay and R. Lend rum (secretary). It was decided to invite all club members able to give their services to co-operate in a working bee to prepare 'the grounds, the party to assemble at the showgrounds at 5.30 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon.
