WELLINGTON WOOL 'SALES. BTDDTNG EXCEPTIONALLY KEEN (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 7. At the first wool sale of the season to-day a catalogue of '7978 bales was offered to a full bench of buyers. Keen interest was shown and .prices for medium crossbreds showed a considerable • advance on brokers’ ideas of values. .Bidding was exceptionally keen at materially lower prices than the March closing rates. Bradford was not operating to any extent, the support mostly coming from France, Russia and Tasmania. Superior crossbreds, light in condition but of good colour, made 13id to Hid; a few extra super lines were | slightly higher. Good style Romneys brought llfd to 13d, Merinos, lambs and halfbreds, were stagnant. The official range of prices is as follows, the first column giving those for March 20 and the last those for November 14: — Extra Fine Crossbred.

LOAN AND MERCANTILE REPORT (By Telegraph —Special to “The Star.”) WELLINGTON, Nov. 14. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Wellington) report: “The first- sale of the 1929-1930 wool selling season was held to-day, when the combined brokers submitted an offering of about SOOO bales, of which 90 pen cent, was disposed of i under the hammer. There was a very large attendance of buyers, representing Bradford, America, the Continent, Dominion Mills, local scourers and spec, ulators.

“Bidding nvas keen, especially from the Continental buyers, but while I Bradford competed up to a point, it was soon evident that their limits were not as high as those of the Continent. Consequently, 'Bradford secured comparatively iittle of the offering. “The selection of wool was not quite up to the previous year’s standard, being heavier in condition and not as well grown. “Comparing the prices realised today with those ruling last November, the market must be quoted at 3d to 4d easier for crossbreds and 7d to lOd lower for halfbreds and Merinos.”
