ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION.

PARTY RETURNING. By Russell Owen, copyrighted, 1929, by the “New York Times” company and "StLouis Post and Despatch.” All rights for publication reserved throughout the world. Wireless to “New York Times.” BAY OF WHALES, Nov. 3.

The second, supporting party, after passing the badly crevassed area across the trail, reached its destination last night and has already begun its homeward journey. The depot, laid down at the point where the party turned back, is the half-way depot to the mountains, and the depots beyond will be laid by the geological party which will leave the base camp in a few days. Altogether the supporting party traversed 200 miles, established four supply depots 50 miles' apart, and marked the trail with flags for the geological party. Dr. Laurence Gould’s scientific party will press another 200 miles to the mountains, where an extensive survey will be undertaken to .solve important problems of Antarctic terrain. The supporting party started on October 15 with three nine-dog teams, each of which hauled six laden sleds.
