HAWERA MUNICIPAL BAND.
MONTH LY MEETING OF CITIZENS’ COMMITTEE. Members of the Citizens’ Committee ■of th© Haw era Municipal Band met lastnight in the hand-room. There were present: Messrs E. Dixon (chair). H. N. Lester. J. Champion, E. Gould. R. Swan and. W. Hawkins (.secretary). A letter from Mr H. C. A. Fox, dated September 26, advising bis return in the near future to. the Dominion was read by the secretary. The acting-con doctor (Mr E. Gould) reported tlva.t seven rehearsals, a cone:“_ in King Edward Park and attendance at the W.D.F.U. garden party had comprised' the engagements for the month. Ho added- that the practices were proceeding .satisfactorily. GENERAL. It was reported that th-re were severa’l vacancies in the junior band. The organiser of St. Many’s Church bazaar wrote to thank the band, for playing at the function in October and forwarded a cheque of £2 2s ns a donation to the funds. The secretary of the Egmont Racing! Club made an'offer of an engagement, for the summer meeting at. £ls per -dav. The dates are December 18 and. 19.' —It was left to the chairman and treasurer to wait on the club to discuss the matter.
