OPERA HOUSE, TO-NIGHT. •OUT OF THE RUINS.” Richard 13 art-lie I mess, popular First, National star-, has been the hero. of dozens of -pretty screen romances, From "Way Down East” and “Tol’ahle David” down through ‘ The Patent Leather Kid’’ and “Wheel of Chance,” he ira,s participated in romantic stories that have thrilled millions. In “Out cjf the Ruins,” his present starring vehicle, which will be screened at the Opera House to-night, he has a love story that will eclipse anything he lias ever done in this line.

(Pretty Marian Nixon plays opposite Barthelancss as the sweet and charming French girl of the story. Their romance is . one of great beauty and sacrifice, .and the pair make appealing screen lovers. ‘‘Out of the Ruins” is a story of France after the war, from the pen of the celebrated British war correspondent and author, Sir Philip Gibbs. It was directed by John Francis Dillon, who heikl the megaphone on Barthelmess’ recent great dramatic success, “The Noose.” The scenes were made in typical French atmosphere, an entire Paris city block h aving been constructed by technicians at the Burbank studios, with complete dwellings, cafes and: business establishments. The box plan is on view at Miss Blake’si sweet shop. GRAND THEATRE—TO-NIGHT. “THE PORT OF MISSING GIRLS.” When girls leave home and disappear, what becomes of them ? Their adventures are no doubt thrilling, tragic and dramatic. This theme has been picturised in “The Port of Missing Girls,” which will ho finally screened at the Grand _ Theatre, Hawern, to-night. In this picture the pitfalls, and dangers of young girls are depicted in a dramatic manner. It is advertised as a frank portrayal of the perils of the youth of 10-day, and shows how girls who have been carefully reared in good homes can become victims of the present fast times and be reported among the missing. Barbara Bedford and Malcolm McGregor play the leading roles. A strong supporting programme will include episode 1 of the thrilling new Universal serial “Tarzan the Mighty.”
