IN RUINS
A TENEMENT COLLAPSES. TRAGEDY AT ALGIERS. TEN DEAD REMOVED. (Australian Press Association— United Service.) Received 10.25 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Aug. 30. A four-storeyed tenement in Algiers, inhabited by 25 Italian labourers and their families, fell in a. heap, burying some 120 persons. Firemen, troops and volunteers quickly began rescue work, and brought out 10 dead and 45 seriously injured. Thera is little hope that many of the others will be alive when the debris is cleared.
