OPEN LETTER TO DAIRY COMPANY DIRECTORS AMALGAMATED DAIRIES LTD. Anzac Avenue, Auckland. 28th August, 1929. Dear Sir(s), — , A determined attempt is being made to discredit the Amalgamated Dairies Scheme by spreading false statements regarding the New Zealand Co-op. Dairy Co. Ltd. _ _ . . The following are the actual payments made by the New Zealand Co-op. Dairy Co. Ltd. during the past two years to its Cheese and Butter suppliers:— CHEESE FACTORIES Estimated at least I/O The policy of the New Zealand Co-op. Dairy Co. Ltd. since its formation years ago has been to consign all Butter and Cheese shipped to the United Kingdom. Practically all the above Cheese and the bulk of the Butter have therefore been shipped to the London market on consignment. The prices will stand comparison with any other company in New Zealand selling upon the same basis. The Annual Meeting of the Company was held in Hamilton on the 22nd inst., when 600 shareholders were present. The meeting was a wonderful tribute to successful co-operative enterprise. There was not one discordant note and the meeting unanimously and enthusiastically carried votes of thanks to, and appreciation of the services of Mr Dynes Fulton (Chairman), Wm. Goodfellow (Managing Director), C. J. Parlane (Manager), and J. B. Wright (London). Judging by the type of propaganda now being circulated the London Commission Agents consider the Dairy Farmers of Taranaki will believe anything. Don’t be hoodwinked by misrepresentation—get the facts and you will support Amalgamated Dairies and a' businesslike marketing arrangement. In closing we would like to refute the statements of the “ Dairyman.” Mr Goodfellow will receive ho salary from Empire Dairies Ltd. Mr J. B. Wright will be Managing Director of the Empire concern, and a substantial portion of his salary will be paid over to Amalgamated Dairies Ltd. Empire Dairies will have its own selling floors and staff and will sell in competition with Tooley Street. Amalgamated Dairies Ltd. will employ six or more of the best Tooley Street firms to sell under J. B. Wright’s personal supervision. Why not have your own London Office and share in the profits ? It costs you nothing ! Yours faithfully, AMALGAMATED DAIRIES LTD.
