In “Morgan’s Last Raid” he is seen as a defender of tlie South, who is forced to flee from home, leaving the girl he loves because of Iris loyalty to the Southern cause. Returning to his home, lie is ordered to attack it, and in doing so J earns that his sweetheart has been tricked into giving him the signal for advance. A mental straggle between love and duty follows, with the result that he is able to carry out his militaa-y orders without becoming true to the call of his heart. The cavalry charge, several colourful skirmishes and some exquisite romantic scenes give “Morgan’s Last Raid” an impressive distinction among the photoplays of the past few months. Dorothy Sebastian heads the large supporting cast, in which Wheeler lOlakman, Hank Mann, Montague Shaw and Allan Garcia are also principals. Nick Grin.de directed. Other films of interest on the programme are M.G.M. News, New Zealand scenic, Australian variety, and a comedy. A good musical programme is provided.
