Answer to Correspondent.

John God-kin (Fitzroy).—We cannot accept correspondence commenting on evidence tendered in -the courts.—Ed. “Star.” BUSH BOOK CLUB. (To the Editor. Sir,—l noticed in your Saturday’s paper that the Girl Guides were asked to assist in collecting hooks for the Women’s Division or the Farmers’ Union Book Club. We are a little later this year in making our annual appeal. Our grateful thanks are due to all who have given hooks in the past and to ail tiiose sympathisers and givers to the present appeal. It would he an assistance to us if all books were in by the end of August. All parcels may be left at Mr. Dalgetty s shop, High Street. The report at our conference of our book club work was moist encouraging. It was' decided to let the book club go back to the Marton branch, as the work has grown too big for the Dominion secretary to attend to properly with her other duties. For the information of those who contemplate joining the club, the charge is 2is 6d a year. Each parcel contains ten good books and various magazines. When the parcel is finished, it will be exchanged by the local branch librarian or sent direct to the honorary -secretary, Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Dominion Book Club, Marton. The librarian for Hawera is Mrs. W. E. Carter, Mrs. Pitkeathley at Eltham, Mrs. Chambers at Opnnake, and any branch president will give information. Again thanking all sympathisers with our endeavours to assist country women,—l am. etc., FLORENCE J. CARTER.
