IN KAIKOURA DISTRICT. HOMESTEADS REPORTED TO BE IN DANGER. (By Telegraph—Press nssixaatioii.) WELLINGTON, Aug. IS. Extensive bush fires are raging in the Puhi Puhi. Valil-ey, 14 miles north of Kaikoura, according to reports received from the postmaster at Kaikoura, states the acting-secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department. One sawmill and six or seven settlers ’ homesteads are reported to. -be in danger. The -need for protection against fire loss is obvious. Consult the Mercantile and General Insurance Company, Ltd.
