BRITAIN AND CANADA. CABINET MINISTER'S TOUR. (Australian Press Association—United Service.) OTTAWA, Aug. 17. The lit. lion. J. 11. Thomas, British Minister in charge of the unemployment problem, arrived at Ottawa on Saturday to discuss various matters with the Canadian 'Government, particularly immigration. ‘‘ Wo have no desire to dump our people anywhere,” he said. He expressed confidence that General C. G. Dawes, American Ambassador, and the Rt. Hon. Ramsey MacDonald, Prime Minister, would roach an agreement on armaments.
Asked for his observations on Lord Beavcrbrook’s campaign for free trade within the Empire Mr Thomas said: “I do not think it was a campaign.” “Merely a stunt?” suggested (the newspaper man. “You have supplied my deficiency of speech,” the Minister replied. The Minister said he would discuss every aspect of trade relations as they affected Britain and .Canada.
