THE SMILE CASTLE

THE CASTLE PLEDGE. I promise to smile every time I can, and to chase all the frowns into the dark cave, where the Smile Giant will kill them with his Magic Sword Happiness. My Dear Smiles, — I have just returned to the Castle from a long ramble fully convinced that Spring is here, despite the wintry elements which visit us still. Spring! Why the very air itself is whispering it. Smiles if you have any doubts about what I am saying take a walk like I have done and keep your eyes and ears open, and I assure you, you will return with the glad song of Spring in your hearts. What a truly wonderful season it is, to be sure, of the four seasons there seems something all so different about Spring and in the pleasing and convincing way it makes its appearance. Firstly, the garden wakes up from its Winter sleep and the pretty Spring flowers pop up their little heads, and tiny leaves make their appearance on the trees, and the winds seem to alter and send forth a message of Spring. The hedges are full of all sorts of strange life, and the scenes in the paddocks complete the picture. What a pretty sight it is seeing the lambs frolicking about, and young calves looking so quaint with their long legs. Such sights would make the most dismal person happy. My message to you all to-day is to keep smiling, even though we may have some dull days yet, because the thrush singing at my window has assured me that Spring is really here. Heaps of love to you all. From your affectionate SMILE QUEEN.
