COMPLAINTS REGARDING PRICE. ! (United Press Association—By K'‘h-ine Telcgronc Cop v right.) ’Austra.’iau Press Association., MELBOURNE, Aug. 12. An organisation called the Town and Country Union lias launched a .campaign in favour of the removal of the embargo ,on Java sugar owing to the high price of Australian sugar. It is claimed that while Australian sugar costs consumers £36 Ids per ton Java white sugar can be landed at £lO 10s. The consequence is that Australia is paying £7,000,000 annually more than she should, simply in the interests of the home-grown article, which is now getting into the hands of southern Europeans. The union describes this penalty as enoi - ni(pu.s, and a number ol .representative public bodies have promised to help its campaign.
