FORTY-SECOND BIRTHDAY.
- SALVATION ARMY CORPS. ( ONGERT AT HAW ERA. The concert arranged in connection with the forty-second anniversary celebrations of the Hnwora Salvation Army Corps drew a good attendance to the citadel last evening .Brief addresses appropriate to the occasion were made by Commander Cakott (Eltham), Captain Williams (Pa tea). Airs. Ensign Browse (Stratford), and Commandant Adams (Hawera). \'ocal isolos were rendered by Ensign Browse, Air. A. E. Morris, and Airs. Carter, a recitation by Miss .1. Moore, and a euphonium solo was contributed by Air. B. Zinsli Accompaniments were played liy Miss Hawkins. Three selections were interpreted by the band under Bandmaster A. Smith. Each of the several items was received with enthusiasm and the programme proved replete with enjoyment. • A birthday cake presented L> the I corps by Air. Campbell realised 30s. I ■subscribed by people in attendance.) This was handed to the corps funds, i and on behalf of the purchasers the cake was presented by Mrs. Streeter to Lieut. Reid as a gift to the Eltham Boys’ Home.
