ATHLETIC SPORTS.
'V DISTRICT MEETINGS. TEJ KIRI ON WEDNESDAY. An attractive list of events is on the programme for the Te Kiri Sports to be held on Wednesday next, including, running, cycling, dropping, Jlignlaud Dancing and many others. The prizes allotted total £lls. The chopping events should be specially interesting and there will be keen rivalry. The Auroa Pipe Band will play selections during the day. A,t the meeting will be tried out the “B Indicator’ 5 invented by Mr S. W. Beer, of Te Kiri. The prospects are that the meeting will be tiie best ever held by the Te Kiri Sports Club. The annual ball will, be held in the evening. AT KAKARAMEiA. BIG PROGRAMME ON WEDNESDAY One of the most popular meetings for athletic sports on the coast is that at Kakaramea run by the local agricultural and sports association in Mrs Lord’s, paddock, and to be held this year on Wednesday next. The horse leaping, for which there are live trophies and prizes, will be a feature of the day. lu addition there are athletic and Highland events and many other attractions which will serve to keep people interested. A band will be in attendance and will play items during the day. In the evening at the hall will be held the annual ball, for which special arrangements are being made. TAWHITI ON APRIL 24. The annual sports q! the Tawhlti and District Association will be held on Wednesday, April 24, in Mr Sole's paddock adjoining tlie hall, and they will be a great event for the district. The programme advertised in to,-day’s “Star” shows the list of events to he particularly attractive. The dance is to be held on Friday evening, April 26. MEREMERE-OH ANGAI ON MAY 1. Notice is given of the sports meeting at Oliangai to be held on Wednesday, May 1, at Mr J. Anderson’s paddock. A specially interesting programme of events has been arranged and everything points to a successful meeting. The sports’ ball will be held in the evening. MOKOIA ON MAY 15. The programme includes a sevon-a-sicic Rugby tournament, horse-leaping, athletic events, motor car competitions, and special interest is centred in the boys’ district handicaps. Nominations will close on May H, and it is expected there will be large entries. A band will be in attendance, and there will be a dance and presentation of prizes in the evening.
