CADETS IN TRAINING.
HAIVEIIA TOWN COMPANY
QUARTERLY TERM CONCLUDED
The quarterly training period of C Company Second Cadet Battalion of the Taranaki Regiment concludes this evening, when the final of the live consecutive evening parades is to he held. The average attendance at the week’s parades lias been 135, and the syllabus has included drill, small arms training, physical and recreations training, and lecturettes. Speaking with a “Haivera Star” reporter this morning Staff-Sergeant A. E. Stevens, instructor to the parades, said the general work had been of a good standard, the boys showing veri keen interest, particularly the noncommissioned officers who carried out the bulk of the detail instruction work. Inspections were carried out by the area officer, Lieut. J. N. Henry, N Z. S.C.. who was also appreciative in his comment concerning the evident progress in tlie training. The officer commanding the company is Lieut. R. R. Henderson, with Lieut. «T. II • Bolton as second in command. Following this evening’s parade the company is to assemble for supper at the Golden Minim Tea Rooms and a short social programme, during winch n farewell is to be extended to Lieut. Bolton, who is leaving Hawera shortly ciii transfer to Frankton .function.
