WELLINGTON’S CARILLION.
INSPECTED AT MAKER’S WORKS,
(Australian Press Association—United Service.) LONDON, April 10.
There was a largo, and representative gathering at Gillctt, and -Tohnson’s works, Croydon, to inspect. the Wellington war memorial carillion, which is beino- shipped to New Zealand m a fortnight’s time. Clifford Ball played selections from Schubert, Mozart, Mendelssohn, demonstrating the bell s perfect range and tone. (Sir .Tames Farr paid a tribute to Mr Ball and to the founder’s work, which was admittedly the finest in the world. He regretted ’ that he was unable to eomplv with th e request of the organisers of the British Industries Exhibition to bo held shortly at Newcastle for a six months ’ loan of the carillion, which undoubtedly would be a great attraction. He added that, the site chosen for th e tower was the finest in New Zealand.
