MEETING OF THE COAIAHTTEE. A most satisfactory position was recorded at the ordinary monthly meeting of the Aianaia School Committee on Wednesday evening, when Air. A. F. Gamlin, chairman., presided over ta full attendance of members. REPORTS. Aiiss Hetherington, secondary school inspector, visited the school on Alarok 21. It was anticipated til ait Aiiss AicLeod’ s appointment would ha made permanent from Alay. 1. In spite of tlie efforts of two plasterers, the teaks in the new building had not ceased and when heavy rain fell llie place would probab ! y he flooded. The Education Board had advised that unless half the cost of the typewriters required couild he raised 'locally the- hoard was unable to procure these for the high school. The board suggested that £27 from money raised locally be allocated for the purpose. As the committee: bad done a great deal for the school, the headmaster at present- had no recommendation to make. As a result of the past two terms’ attenadnees it seemed that the school shoutd go up a grade. The secretary of the Education Board advised that the committee’s uipplioartion for £lO3 subsidy on account of ground improvements had been proves icnaiv approved. Air C. 11. Aloore, the board’s ■atehiit.ect, advised that he would forward a sketch plan of ia. proposed cycle shed 1 . The chairman stated plans had been prepared for shelter sheas at Kaupokonui. and Inalia. These would be used by children waiting for the school bus. Permission for erection had been obtained from the county council. The chairman outlined the progress made with school ground improvements and declared that when these were completed the playing areas would, be thoroughly up-to-date. It was decided to leave the tarring of the new concrete tennis courts until after the winter.
