BRIEF VISIT TG HAWERA. PRIVATE. DEPUTATIONS RECEIVED. To receive several deputations, Mr. H. H. Sterling, general manager of the New Zealand railways, paid a visit to Hawera last evening, arriving from Wellington by the New Plymouth express at 6 o’clock and! departing by car for Stratford shortly after 9. This morning he was to hear further deputations in Stratford, at the conclusion of which ho was to go on to New Plymouth . x Mr. Sterling, during his short stay here, was kept very busy, the nature of. the business, he subsequently informed a “Hawera Star” reporter, being private. The deputationists were introduced by Mr. H. G. Dickie, M.P. Accompanying Mr. Sterling were Messrs E. Casey (North Island divisional superintendent), M. Dennehy (officer-in-cliarge land and legal branch), P. H. Hartland (district traffic manager), L. W. Beasley (district engineer), and J. Pringle (business agent).
