A lino of 112 fat cattle, submitted at the Wataroa sale by Air Edward Own, of Haasfc, South island, realised £ls a head. Notwithstanding that in order to reach the sale they had to be driven 130 miles, they were yarded in excellent condition, says an exchange. Capetown is to be the starting point of the Australian expedition to the Antarctic next summer. Sir Douglas Maw son, after communicating with the Admiralty and with several who have had experience in the Antarctic, has cabled Sir George Pearse that he will start from' South Africa.
