PERSONAL ITEMS.
Air and Airs C. Lennie, of Hawera, have returned after a fortnight spentin Auckland. Air. and Airs. R. Sweetapple, of Auckland, are guests at the Commercial Hotel. Air W. G. White and Miss Gladys White left by train this morning en route for England and th € Continent,' They will probably be away a year or more. Mr Alex M. Wilson, now of Auckland, and formerly in the legal profession in Hawera, is spending a few days in the district. The death of Mr Walter Good!and, of Hawera, occurred at his residence shortly after ten o’clock this morning. His health had been failing for some time and for several weeks he had been confined to bed. All- Goodland, who was S 9 years of age, was one of the early settlers of the: South Taranaki district, and was a former chairman of the Hawera County Council. Air A. C. Eerreek has been elected a member af the Opunake Town Board. Aliss D. Aloon, who has been on the staff of the Opunake District High School for some three years, has received notice of transfer to Amberley (Canterbury) and will leave Opunake about th € end of the month. At a meeting af the Alokoia Settlers ’ Association last evening it was unanimously resolved to show appreciation of the good service rendered the association by Air D. S. Richardson by electing him a life member of the association. Air Richardson suitably acknowledged his gratification at the honour conferred on him in being made the first life member of the association. Air Richardson later agreed to act as joint secretary, with -Mr Kibblewhite, for the coming year. Arrangements were concluded and .programme drawn up for the annual sports gathering on Atay 15.
