RIOTOUS BEHAVIOUR.

THREE ELTHAM YOUTHS CHARGED. SALUTARY FINES IMPOSED IN TWO OASES. At the. Eltham; Magistrate’s Court this morning, before Messrs T. O. ( Staiinons and J. Phillips, Js.P., three young men, residents of Eltham, were charged with misconducting themselves on March 28. Patrick Thomas and Harry Harris were jointly charged with making useof o-bscene language and refusing >to quit tile licensed premises of the- Coronation Hotel when ordered to do so by the licensee, the latter charge al-so-being preferred l agains Thom-a-s- in respect of the Eltham Hotel!. Harris w-a-s also charged with drunkenness at the Eltham Hotel. Mr W. 0. Hill appeared for- Harris, who, wit-li Thomas, -pleaded guilty to all charges. Constable Townsend gave evidence of being ca-’-led to the- Coronation Hotel on Marc-h 28 in consequence- of a disturbance' in the bar on account of tile licensee’s refusal to serve a eoniipanion of the two accused wiit-h -drink. I Mr Crabtree, the licensee, told him that veil-- offensive language had been used, and lie had ordered the thro© | youno- men to leave the bar. Before the constable’s arrival the accused had left the house- and proceeded to the ■Central Hotel .subsequently going bymotor car to the Eltham H-otei'. For refusal to- quit premises and the use of obscene- language, Harris and Thomas were each convicted and fined £5, with 7s costs. On the- charge of drunkenness Harris was convicted -and discharged. Each of the accused expressed regret- for their conduct. Eric Trask, the third member of the party, wax charged with making use of obscene language and refusal to leave the- Coronation Hotel on March 28 at- the request of the licensee, -and was further charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor car in Bridge- Street on the same date. Accused pleaded not guilty. At the request of the accused, whose counsel was unavoidably absent, the hearing of those charges was adjourned to- April V).
