Aeroplane search parties have left for the scene of the supposed forced landing and a launch carrying petrol provisions departed from Wyndham yesterday. A West Australian Airways machine left Ford Headland this morning and is expected to reach Wyndham this evening to begin the search for the Southern Cross to-morrow. The Drysdalo mission station is not connected with the telephone or telegraph systems, but MeWilliam may be able to improvise wireless communication. The Southern Cross on the first “leg” of her flight to England, was forced down 200 miles from Wyndham, owing to the petrol giving out. Fog and heavy rain made Navigator Litchfield’s task of locating Wyndham almost impossible, and the 'Southern Cross overflew her mark.
